LEDA is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to diversifying the national leadership pipeline by enabling high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds to gain admission to and succeed at our nation’s most selective colleges. Each year we recruit 100 high-school juniors from all over the country, and host them for a completely free seven week Summer Institute on the campus of Princeton University where they receive academic preparation, leadership development, SAT/ACT preparation, and intensive college guidance counseling. When they return home for their senior year of high school, LEDA counselors support them remotely through each stage of the college application and financial aid process to ensure that these incredible students gain admission to top colleges that are great fits for them academically, socially, and financially. Eighty-three percent of LEDA Scholars have enrolled in our nation’s most competitive colleges (as classified by Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges.) While in college, LEDA continues to offer holistic support to ensure that LEDA Scholars not only succeed, but thrive and lead on campus and beyond. LEDA Scholars have a six year graduation rate of 98% compared to the national rate of 59% for low-income students.
